What is the purpose of doing the maps and map quizzes?
Part of the curriculum in World Cultures is for students to become aware of the location of major world countries and landforms. Throughout the year, students will complete their own map of each continent (except for Antarctica). In turn, students will be able to use their own map to answer the questions on the Map Quiz. The questions are designed to see if the students are oriented enough with their own map to describe the relationship between landforms and the countries they occupy or border as well as to evaluate whether or not the students completed their map.
Here are some example Map Quiz items:
1. Name 3 countries found on the Arabian Peninsula.
2. What is the most significant landform that occupies the western portion of the United States?
3. Which 3 South American countries are most affected by the Pampas?
